Hair Edition: Kiehl's Sunflower Color Preserving Shampoo / Kiehl's Strengthening & Hydrating Hair Oil-in-Cream (Review)

Strong and healthy hair is a common goal among the feminine universe and I don't escape such a fundamental rule. I have always had a special tenderness (addiction!) for trying different hair products, mainly because, while growing up in the most innocent of ignorances, I saw myself dealing for years with an extreme craziness of frizzy dry hair. Once I attained the disposition to read and learn about my hair's specific needs and, more importantly, when I reached the financial proficiency to invest on various products and treatments, my hair became more malleable (the relief...).
For 18 years my hair preserved its virginity concerning colour treatments but, two years ago, I have also vertiginously surrended myself to the ombré look. Without any doubts, it is a beautiful look... However, the inclination for a change had been accomodating for quite a while now and, as so, three months ago, I decided to go back to my natural hair colour. Conclusion: I have experienced colour on my hair and as such, I comprehend the necessity for using products that will prolong the results.

The first contact that I had with Kiehl's was through a received sample of the nighttime facial oil (Midnight Recovery Concentrate). Since then I have submerged on a state of allurement for the brand. For whom is not reacquainted, the brand was created in 1851, having initially been an apothecary in East Village, New York. It is in 1849 that the formerly named Brunswick Apotheke receives the designation of Kiehl Pharmacy, when the apprentice John Kiehl bought it. But it wasn't solely the establishment's fascinating history that explains my first trip to the store. The fact that all their products are made from natural oils made me compose an ode of gratitude for finally having experimented some of the more recurrent products and so far I have not been disappointed.
But I should probably start reviewing the products in question.

Sunflower Color Preserving Shampoo - destined to be used on locks that have experienced colouring treatments, it prevents the colour from fading and maintains the shine. It promises results of hydration, the cleanliness of the hair fiber without damaging the colour and a shiny and voluminous hair. And just like this it ALMOST materializes everything that it secures. Having this shampoo as an ally, the ending results are very promising. The colour has been prolonged and protected and the hair welcomes a vibrant and even tickening effect, since the light texture doesn't weigh down the hair. However, if you share the same fears as I do and dryness haunts your nightmares, this shampoo will not arise as a wonder-worker. Even if it treats colour with love and affection, it is not capable of hydrating the hair for its own. My suggestion is to pair this one up with a heavy mask or... How opportune! The product that I will review consecutively works wonderfully as a deep treatment.
And how refreshing is the ingredient list! This product has no traces of parabens, silicone and sulfate, not exactly for the delight of those who appreciate shampoos that create abundant foam, since sulfate is the main responsible for its creation. But so many other factors compensate this last one: sunflower oil (it is a powerful natural oil), containing vitamin E an fatty acids; apricot (the origin of its beautiful caracteristic scent), a potent mixture of vitamins B3, B5 and B6; UV-protective filter, that prevents the colour molecules from suffering any damage.

Strengthening & Hydrating Hair Oil-in-Cream - a leave-in conditioner, it contains all the characteristics of a common conditioner but it is also capable of potentiating them more effectively, since the product is totally absorbed by the hair fiber. It should be used after showering, on clean and towel-dried hair. A small amount of the product (I am forced to report that the scent is hypnotic), starting with the tips and length and gradually moving up to the roots, the promise is fulfilled: it restores the life of dry and damaged hair, leaving it incredibly shiny (but not greasy, YEAH!!!), voluminous (due to the absence of silicone) and wonderfully scented. Even if, in my opinion, every hair type will benefit from the application of a leave-in conditioner, this one should be used with heed by those who worry about oilyness, since this is an oil-based product. If you decide to give it an opportunity, restrain the application to the tips of the hair and leave the roots untouched. Concerning the ingredient list, just like the shampoo, is quite positive! Cetearyl alcohol (an emulsifier that comes from natural oils); cetyl esters (a substance that thickens the hair fiber); dipalmitoylethyl hydroxyethylmonium methosulfate (a conditioner originated from palm oil); avocado oil, extremely enriching and hydrating; potato starch, it leaves the hair soft and supple; extract of olive flower, that heavily contributes for the product's smell and efficacy, since it is the main ingredient.
A few of the ingredients are not equally as beneficial but when deluded in this beautiful cocktail of components, they won't be as corrosive.
- chlorhexidine (a fairly acceptable preservative);
- behentrimonium chloride (an unfriendly substance but when deluded it won't cause irritation);
- parfum, that even being harmful it achieves redemption, only because the smell is marvellous!

- gluconato de clorexidina (um preservativo não muito acidificante);
- behentrimonium chloride (uma substância não muito amigável mas quando diluída não causa irritação);

In conclusion, both products are worth the attributed monetary value and after two months of usability, I can only recommend them!
Down below I leave a few photos for you to constitute an individual judgement about these products, taking the sate of my hair (healthy, hopefully!) as an indicative. And before you dive in the exemplificative endlessness, I must warn you that these are very random pictures...

But usually I am trying to rock the all "I've just woken up and couldn't find a hairbrush" look...

A little sneak peek into tomorrow's post...

Luscious locks is the fundamental concept! Believe, I also take part of such a battle but along the quest I've been unveiling some little treasures that justify a reference.
Both products from Kiehl's, they have been brilliantly capable of delivering beautiful results: a hair that is fortified, revived and healthy.
Have I originated some interest in the minds that wander through the unbounded universe of hair products?
Tomorrow...

Longos cabelos resplandecentes será a palavra-chave!

A Passionate Fairytale

Red is the colour in which reigns the antagonism. Shade of sensuality. Shade of evanescence. Yet shade of incoherency. Unpredictable and ephemeral, the red has been convalescent in the runaways and brands of sumptuousness, Elie Saab, J Mendel, Christian Dior, Zuhair Murad, Marchesa...
Sweet fairytales with a burning effect, that is where I have been founding inspiration.

My wishlist

It's the beginning of February and the cold is still felt with vigor. Massive winter coats, refined knitwear, tall boots, check scarves and a balanced combination of gloves and beanies majestically occupy all my wardrobe. One glimpse through the window, the gelid scents and the sound of the drizzle intensively culminate in a perfect canvas of melancholia. Dark and breathless colours, rough and garish textiles consume all streets and lanes. What a romantic vision of a time of the year whose main purpose is the vehement battle against all my efforts to tame the frizzy, wild barbarism that is my hair!
But the light and delicate textures, the pastels and neutrals, the colourful and vibrant prints are the ones repressing my warm clothing. My mind, as my shopping list, is taken by the perspective of sunny, warm and beachy days. I cannot wait for summer to come and my birthday as well, and it is approaching quite rapidly. And that is why I leave here a collection of beautiful pieces that I hope it will make you yearn for the new season.

My daily makeup routine

Well, it isn't solely the typical morning coffee that wakes me up and prepares me to another day. And here I present my fabulous ally on the arduous task that is to become presentable: makeup. Smooth skin, bright eyes, rosy cheeks, vivid lips... These are a few of the traits that I hope to achieve with a few (a lot, let's be real!) products. Could I be projecting feelings of friendship and affection on mere objects of our daily lifes? Obviously! The relationship that I share with makeup products is almost addictive and, even if it is hard to admit, threatening for the wallet. But in such a degenerative state envolved in years of practice, I've become capable of elaborating a makeup routine, simple and quick (extremely indispensable quality for sluggards that just like me, prefer to spend those few extra minutes not waking up or being unproductive), ideal for hectic mornings, consumed by stress, hurry and scarce patience.

Skin: Starting with a clean and hydrated skin (NEVER neglect the application of a moisturizer, accordingly to the individual attributes of each skin type), I go ahead with one of the steps that I find the most exciting, foundation! Usually I use Vitalumière Aqua by Chanel, a super light foundation that provides a natural look. Even giving a beautiful luminosity to the skin, once dried, it sits almost matte, which gives it a very satisfactory durability.
 I looooove to try out different brushes! However, considering the purpose of this very own post, simplification will be the path to take. Therefore, going back to the very basics, I use my fingers to spread the foundation and, along with the assistance of this wonderful round brush from Shiseido (quite tiny, it will not miss the sides of the nose, always so difficult to reach), I'll buff it a little more, hoping to achieve a seamless effect. But do not let the foundation's aim to delude you! Evening out the skintone is the appropriate conception. To turn invisible any prominent imperfections and scars, I use the Stick Concealer from Clarins, a pasty concealer that it will only need another application throughout the day. Wonderful, this concealer, absolutely capable of taking the humid temperatures of the Bahamas.
Then my favourite part of the process: to give my complexio a little bit of colour. And now it comes to my rescue the Bronzing Powder from MAC - a gorgeous powder bronzer with tenuous particles of shimmer that promise to corrupt any banality - and a blush from Bourjois, in the colour 22 tomette d'or - a product in a small packaging that successfully validates the concept of practicability, since it comes equipped with a mirror and a brush. It's quite of a dark colour but with a light hand, it delivers a rosy colour, quite warm and bronzy, with golden undertones. Depending on my availability, I may apply an highlighter - the Sleek Face Form Contouring and Blush it's a fantastic product, it comes not only with the illuminating portion but also with a countouring powder and a blush.
Everything in place, shall we talk about longevity? I finish off my skin makeup with a sweep of Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder, that is, without any doubts, pure effectiveness reflected on the image of a powder. To carry out the four steps previously alluded, I use the nº10 powder brush from Estée Lauder, quite big and incredibly soft!

Eyes: Even though I'm planning quite of a simple makeup look, I'll RELIGIOUSLY use a primer (longevity is what we all intend to reach right?). The Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original it's my favourite. Big and bright eyes, that's the goal for which I battle. For whoever decides to follow the same road as me, here I give you one advice: stay away from the dark colours, even if they seem intriguing and appealing on the palette. Instead, try using lighter tones, with a little bit of a shine through it, on the eyelid, giving the crease an healthy depth with neutral colous (suggestion: Wedge by MAC). I'll restrain myself to only applying eyeshadows on the eyelids, now using my holy graal of all eyeshadows - All That Glitters, by MAC. With it I use a brush that I worship with vehemence, MAC 217. And now the time that most torments me and excites me, my signature look, the eyeliner. Years and years of practice and there is still space for so many errors... The gel eyeliner from Bobbi Brown in black does the job with sublimity and any angular brush turns the task substantially easier. To conclude, mascara (Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effet Faux Cils) and a concealer for the under eye circles (MAC Studio Finish Concealer).

Lips - Finally the final step of my makeup routine. It's quite rare for me to use lip glosses, I'll preferably resort to those little wonders in tubes - lipsticks. But there is one product that makes me question my preference. It's the High Shimmer Lip Gloss from Bobbi Brown in Hot, a beautiful, loud fuchsia with clear pigments that give the lips a delicious dimensional effect! The texture is surprisingly light and enriched with Vitamin C, this products promisses hydratation.
Next destination: Bobbi Brown's counter, because there are another 17 shades for me to fawn over.

And now I'm ready for another day, and it only took ten minutes. More like thirty...

Uniformizar é a palavra.
